Brad | I am having problems filling my kat with gas. I have read all the threads and was wondering ( because I do not trust my Dealer) How complicated the fix was????????????????? The only Kats my dealer has seen have been on T.V.------------------ 2002 Inca GOLDfish--KATfish Wisconsin-- World record Musky-- 69lb11oz (1949) Georgia-- World record Large Mouth Bass--22lb4oz 2002 INCA GOLD PROWLER LAST YEAR OF A TRUE LEGEND |
ed monahan | The problem was with the 97 and 99's. I would have thought a permanent change was made by the time they got to your car. Anyone else with a 2001 or 2002 experiencing this problem? I had mine fixed but wasn't present when they did it so I can't really help you. I did not know it was still a problem with the newer models. ------------------

Brad | The vehicle appears to be temper/mental (PMS/KAT). it seems to take gas when empty or near empty, but if you are half a tank forget it.......... took me 5 minutes to get one buck in........I do not mind taking it in , if I feel that the dealer is not guessing and wasting my good fishing day fumbling around with a problem they are not sure of. ------------------ 2002 Inca GOLDfish--KATfish Wisconsin-- World record Musky-- 69lb11oz (1949) Georgia-- World record Large Mouth Bass--22lb4oz 2002 INCA GOLD PROWLER LAST YEAR OF A TRUE LEGEND |
Mike Krehel | Brad, Try holding the nozzel with the hose in the 4 O'clock postion and changing the depth of the nozzel as your filling. Also try another gas pump. Some pumps are worse tha others. You might find that once you get the hang of finding the sweet spot you won't need the new filler neck. Works for me! ------------------ Mike Krehel ProwlerOnline.com Click and see me go! Dave Mills | I was present when the new vent and filler tube were installed in my tank. At the time, it was the only Prowler my Tech had seen. It took him about 20 minutes and he had no trouble, other than the tight area he had to work in to install the replacement parts. ------------------

Andy R | Try different gas stations. I have a '99 and have a hard time with some pumps and a very easy time with others. I found one SOHIO station with 94 octane that fills like any other car without jockeying the handle around. Good Luck. ------------------ Black '99

BeWare | I have experienced the problem at some stations and not others. Anoter trick I learned from Wild Cat is that if the station lot is not level always park the Cat facing down hill and or tilted at an angle away from the pump. One time I was having trouble getting it filled so I turned it around and voila no problem. Another hint. Always tightened the cap until it clicks. If you don't the check engine light will come on and only the dealer can turn it off. I learned that one the hard way.f ------------------ This message has been edited by BeWare on 12-23-2001 at 05:34 PM |

WildCat | quote: Originally posted by WildCat: I have had the KIT installed on my `99 to help fueling...I still had problems at some stationsI always look at the layout of the station and have the car positioned so the right side of the car is higher if possible...I have found a few stations I can run it on high and others I have to fiddle with it to fill...and sometimes I have enough gas to get home and FORGET it The opening to the tank is on the right side of the tank, if the car has much angle to it it cannot vent properly and then shuts off early. Trial & error will be the only solution

catterumpus | We had the problem at first and also had it with our Subaru Legacy. When filling either, we pull the nozzle back out as far as it can go without falling out altogether, and we've never had a problem since. ------------------ Donny & Donna Burnap basic black cat with flames 2000 no bumpers and tgf metalcrafter front & rear borla with stock tips and no baffles ceramic front brakes Donny's one-off zit covers and rear bumperettes This message has been edited by catterumpus on 12-29-2001 at 06:26 PM |
